Baird Tavern is an online magazine dedicated to the culture, craft and community of the Irish pub. We write about the traditions that make pub culture unique, the drinks that define the bar experience, and the people who keep the spirit of the local alive in cities and towns around the world.

Our editorial focus spans three areas. In Pub Culture, we explore the history, traditions and social role of the pub as a community institution. Who We Are

Baird Tavern was founded by Cian Doherty, a writer and pub enthusiast based in Dublin. After years spent visiting Irish pubs across four continents, Cian started this site to document the stories, people and places that make the Irish pub one of the most enduring cultural institutions on the planet.

We believe that the pub is more than a place to drink. It is a place to belong. Whether you are a seasoned regular or someone who has never set foot in an Irish bar, we hope our writing gives you a reason to pull up a stool and stay a while.
